"What
makes Crystal Prince unique is that he's the only modern-bred
Appaloosa I have studied that is homozygous for what some
refer to as the "leopard gene" (we call it PATN-1).
Crystal
Prince is a genetic goldmine. Proven by progeny testing,
this stallion is homozygous for the two main genes that,
together, create loudly-marked foals. To date, the majority
of his offspring are leopards, indicating that he's homozygous
for the key gene that creates this pattern. Such horses
are rare and extremely valuable, especially when they
have so many other excellent traits going for them. Crystal
Prince has it all - he is "true breeding" in
terms of coat patterning, and has exceptional conformation
and fertility - a tremendous addition to any breeding
program."- Sheila Archer
